Tanner has asked us several times in the past if we could get a dog and we have always told him that we don't prefer animals in the house. So the other day we were in the car and out of the blue he says, "Mom, maybe we could get a dog that sleeps outside?" Smart negoatiater already! So David and I looked at each other, thought about it for a second, and said "NO." We tried to explain to him that our yard is not big enough for a dog, but he has a hard time reasoning that since other people with small yards have dogs...I assured him that when he gets older and he can take care of the dog that we would revisit the discussion. He has, however, had dog on the brain the last several days. Yesterday he was playing with his legos and he came to show us his newest creation...a dog house (see picture below). He also found an old tennis ball in the garage and informed us that we should keep that handy so we can play catch when we get a dog!
